PROFILES OF DIRECTORS

Ken Wienand  CA (SA), M.Inst.D 

Ken is a one of the founding directors of BODACIOUS Consulting. He was previously a  founding  partner of RAK Solutions which had been sold to LMD Africa (subsequently sold to PricewaterhouseCoopers). Prior to this he was partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers a result of being part of the MSGM Masuku Jeena Group (one of the largest black accounting firms in South Africa) who negotiated the largest empowerment merger in the accounting profession’s history. 

Through his exposure with the firm and his previous employers over the past 23 years, he has gained extensive experience in turnaround strategies, mergers, disposal of non-core assets, technical management, human resources, business recovery services, auditing, internal audit, training and advising businesses both large and small.  He has worked extensively in both the private and public sector. His focus areas are business rescue and turnaround of businesses in distress.  Ken has also served as an alternate Director on the Boards of Sun International South Africa Ltd and Sun International South Africa (Holdings) Pty Ltd, and also a member of the audit committee.  This was during the period of the development of the new casinos in Western Cape, Gauteng, and Eastern Cape.  

Madeleen Wienand  BLC.LLB, HDip Corp Law, HDip Contract 

Madeleen is currently the managing director and CEO of the Bodacious Group of companies, consisting of Bodacious Marketing, Bodacious Energy and Bodacious Consulting.  Madeleen studied at the University of Pretoria where she completed the degrees BLC.LLB in 1992. As an article clerk at the firm Getz, Behr and Mendel Cohen she was exposed to legal process both in the High Court and Magistrate’s Court and she gained in-depth  experience with regard to the administrative side of Company law. Upon completion of her articles she joined Maartens, Huysamen & Partners as a junior partner but after a year started her own legal practice specialising primarily in family law and the law of insolvency.

 Madeleen was joined by her then husband, Pieter Botha, and they continued to practice under the name and style of Winter & Botha Inc.  During this time her focus changed and she specialised in corporate law. After obtaining her post-graduate qualifications in Advanced Corporate law and Advanced Law of Contract at the university of Johannesburg (then known as RAU), Madeleen joined Gandalf Trust as head legal manager. During her time with Gandalf Trust she acquired extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions both in the Private and Public company arena.  Her duties included negotiations, drafting of agreements, drafting court documents and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements involved in the restructuring of primarily distressed businesses and companies.   

PROFILES OF ACCOCIATES  

Nelson Chitima CA (SA), CIA  

Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa (UNISA) as well as an honours’ degree in Accounting Science from the same university. He is a Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants having served and completed the prescribed articles of clerkship and passed the prescribed examinations. He is also a member of the Independent Regulatory Audit Board.

 Nelson is also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), with the Institute of Internal Auditors International having passed the prescribed examinations and complied with the qualification requirements of the institute. Nelson has been in the Accounting and auditing profession for more than 10 years and is experienced in various aspects of business development, asset management, internal and external audits, taxation, and consulting 

Gareth De Villiers CA (SA)

 Gareth is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years’ experience in the auditing and consulting spheres.  Gareth focuses on internal control and has been instrumental in the design  and implementation of manuals of internal control at  North West University, North West Gambling Board and North West parks and Tourism Board. He was involved in the design, implementation and management of a data base to enhance EMIS in the North West Province Department of Education. This involved questionnaire design, logistics of school visits, management of data capturing and report design and analysis. The project involved the visiting of all 2200 schools in the North West Province.  He was responsible for the management of the project Financial Management Training Phase 2 to the Department of Finance NW in consortium with the North West University – Mafikeng Campus. This was the training of financial management staff of the North West Province to empower them to comply with the PFMA requirements. Gareth has also designed and implemented  Asset Management solutions for the Department of  Agriculture and Economic Development in the North West Province.

 Kees Schipper Bsc Tech Civil 

Kees holds a Bsc Tech Civil from HTS s’Hertogenbosch and a Post graduate diploma  in Economical/Technical Business management, IHRO Dordrecht, The Netherlands. He has over 20 years’ experience across a wide variety of disciplines. His passion and focus for rural development has focussed his attention on the basic human right being access to water.  He has been involved in many projects including: Managing the operations & maintenance divisions of various water projects in the Natal Midlands. Responsible for implementing O&M manuals. Input in business plans regarding O&M issues as early as from the design stage and construction methods. Practical construction modifications on existing water projects. Implementing strategies regarding transferring of water schemes to the future WSA.  Project planning and management of rural development schemes. Design of water schemes, pump stations, writing of business plans, design reports, proposals and O&M manuals. Design of conservancy tanks and waste water pumps stations. Township projects and development projects funded by various funders with full involvement of the local community. Design of rural sanitation methods and improvement of the existing VIP design. Challenging due to the fact that the client (community) was also functioning as the contractor. Kees also has extensive experience in project management and implementation.

Robin van Rensburg B Pharm MBA

Robin is a recognized performance breakthrough, crisis and turnaround management consultant. His clients include SME’s and corporates facing significant challenges related to market, product, financial, operational and management issues.He specialises in family and closely held businesses where he focuses on profitable growth, succession, generational transition and dispute resolution and to assist his clients achieve their retirement objectives. In these situations he works in close cooperation with business owners, boards, other advisors and the management team.A self-motivated, focused Consultant with a wide range of experience in the Franchise industry, Manufacturing, IT, Retail and Pharmaceutical industry.

He focuses his skills on doing effective turnaround strategies for companies. Incorporated in the reengineering of the companies are change management, refinancing, restructuring and marketing initiatives. He has excellent analytical, design and problem solving skills. His project management experience has demonstrated his leadership skills and ability to manage develop and motivate teams to achieve their objectives. His experience also includes implementing performance breakthrough initiatives.Robin is experienced in all aspects of refinancing a business and has been successful in sourcing capital through banks, equity providers, private investors and goverment funding agencies.Robin takes a proactive role with his clients - providing advice, counsel, coaching and mentoring services.

He has served as interim chief executive officer, chief restructuring officer, a member of the board of directors. His consulting and interim management engagements have included a public Engineering company, a Pharmaceutical manufacturer, an IT company, Telecommunications company, Marketing company and other service, manufacturing and distribution businesses.Robin’s corporate experience includes businesses ranging in size from venture capital start-ups through to medium sized companies.

Cornelius Basson

Cor is a recognized IT and business strategy specialist - able to generate innovative business ideas. His clients include private and government entities facing challenges regarding new business directions or aligning IT to the business.Cornelius also specialises in business web presence in the light of the growing ecommerce in South Africa since June 2007. In these situations he works in close cooperation with business owners, boards, other advisors and the management team.Cor has grown up in the corporate environment and is experienced in all aspects of general management. Cor takes a proactive role with his clients - providing advice, counsel, coaching and mentoring services.His consulting includes a Government Department, Pharmaceutical manufacturer and Internet Online businesses.

In the client environment his focus is on maximizing the value of the business for the benefit of the stakeholders.

Danie Erasmus

Danie is a recognized funding specialist. He takes a keen interest in the development of new innovative products and processes and will arrange for financial assistance from government schemes to improve the competitiveness of clients where necessary.Danie has been involved in business projects from a variety of industries - covering Mining, Transport, Information Technology, Medical products, Service industries, Engineering, Tourism and various Manufacturing. Over the last 15 years Danie has focused on Government incentive schemes and the sourcing of capital from financial institutions.He works in close cooperation with business owners, other advisors, and the management team and takes a proactive role with his clients, providing advice, counsel, coaching and mentoring services. He is experienced in financing projects and the challenges that small business owners face.His corporate experience includes the involvement in large mega projects as well as businesses ranging in size from venture capital start-ups through to medium sized companies.
